One of the biggest things I am noticing as I move more and more into my embodied enlightenment is how people are so deeply stuck in the mind. Most people are not in their bodies. Their brains are on overload. For the most part they have not acknowledged their soul. Their radiance is very low for that reason.
They are not terribly aware of their environment. At least not in a true sensual way. Oh, they may be keen observers, of people, and of places they go. But that’s not the same as engaging all their physical and non-physical senses…as experiencing the type of awe and wonder that a young child does.
To feel, hear, smell, taste and touch, and to see in a way that includes all of those other senses. It’s no longer just seeing other people and objects, or nature. It’s feeling them without having to touch them. Not feeling their emotions so much (that’s changing in which we no longer hold others’ energies). It becomes more of a multi- dimensional experience.
AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE
As extraordinary as that experience is, it’s one we have to a degree, feared. Why? Because we have been put down other times, in other lifetimes, for exhibiting that infusion of spirit. Our very lives were threatened. Especially as women, we were criticized and much worse, for allowing ourselves that type of sensual expression.
We were misunderstood as inviting a sexual connection with another, when perhaps we were just expressing a sensual joy of our body and of life. Both women and men who embody their sensual nature were, and still are criticized and made to feel inferior.
so is it any surprise that as our soul comes into our body and our lives more fully that at least initially many of us react with fear. Not feeling safe to allow too much of that sensual joy in. Just a bit, then it’s back to business as usual: the mental pursuits.
A RUDE AWAKENING
Most of us, as we began awakening to our spiritual nature, were still very stuck in our mind. So spirit had to go through our brain to get us to pay attention, at least in the beginning. It’s why so much of the teachings were more theoretical, conceptual and complex. Eventually, the information filters down into the heart and the physical body. It’s why there was a lot of focus on things like astral projection, levitation, space aliens, portals, crystals, and any of a number of things that placed the power outside, and that focused anywhere but the more physical and sensual experiences.
Even today, the spiritual community itself is chock-full of mental machinations. Even when it comes to embodied enlightenment. Very little information in that community focuses on the sensual nature of embodied enlightenment. Sensuality is neither just a nice by-product of this transformation or something that can be by-passed. Those who try to ignore this aspect will be in for a rude awakening.
It is in fact the raison d’être of this whole process, and to try to bypass it is futile!
Running to the mind will go only so far. If one continues to do so, life will become intolerable.
But then was life so joy-filled in the first place? How often did we feel like that care-free child who sees the wonder and magic in everything, even in the mundane? It’s why we are here. We wanted, for at least one lifetime, to feel life from the inside out. To move finally, beyond the colorless world.
But first we had to move beyond the drama, beyond the need for struggle and pain. Both are from the mind, not the soul. Both eventually were seen as a virtue. And both have taken the place of true passion for life.
We are letting go of so much, especially of the need for pain in our life. Yes, we thought we needed it to a degree in order to stay connected to our past, to others in our life, and to mankind. But our soul, we are discovering, is not into pain. It isn’t interested in struggle. So the trying, the hard work, all of that is losing its appeal.
We prefer some interim boredom over the drama. And boredom is also from the mind. It feels somewhat lost without needing passion to come from the outside and from struggle.
So we reach a crossroads in which we have to choose between two worlds. We can no longer straddle both without creating more pain in our life. But we discover that we are in fact in very capable hands. We begin to exhale. It’s safe to feel our joy.
