Martyrdom Is Dead

Maybe you are disguising it in terms like, “wanting to be of service to others, and to humanity.”  Wanting to “be there” for friends and family.

This will not lead you to your freedom, any more than it will help anyone else.

You carry a bright light, and it is growing brighter.  But if you insist that you need to compromise yourself for anyone or anything, you are working against your own light.  And you know more now than ever before when that is happening.  You know by how you feel.

It used to feel good to sacrifice and suffer in the name of service to others.  It was seen as a virtue, especially as a woman, to put aside your own needs for the needs of others.  You were then considered a good person, a good woman.  You nurtured others, maybe even your own family, your mother and father, because you could see they couldn’t do that for themselves.

Others came to you for nurturance, advice and support.  Friends, associates, even strangers.  And you felt, to a degree, a sense of identity with that role, and a sense of fulfillment.

And it’s not just your grooming as a woman which placed you so deeply in that role, it was being a light worker.  You knew you carried something special and you wanted to share that to help those in your life who seemed to be struggling.  You held energies for others and for the planet for a very long time.

But you have paid a hefty price for that type of service.  Emotionally and physically, you downloaded the pain from others, even from your ancestors before you.

Now, in light of the new consciousness, all that is going.  In the new energy things operate differently.  Pain, suffering and struggle cannot reside there.  Playing the victim will not do.   Taking on the pain of others and worrying about the planet is counterproductive.

The new consciousness is based in joy and self love.  It is based in cooperation between you and you.  Between your human and soul self, between your masculine and feminine nature.  Not just as a concept, but putting it into practice on a daily basis.  It is a radical shift away from the old patterns.  Patterns that had their basis in guilt, shame, and fear.

So releasing the old role makes room for the new one to emerge: Loving yourself, nurturing yourself, accepting yourself, and continuing to invite your soul into your body and your life.  That’s it.  Anything beyond that is  gravy.  And the byproduct of that is everyone around you, including the planet, benefits.

Whatever else you do is up to you.  If it brings you joy, do it.  But don’t do it because you “think” it’s being of service in some capacity.  That is just old energy thinking.

Martyrdom, to whatever degree it is practiced, is dead in the new consciousness.  Don’t bother looking to the old role models of ascension or enlightenment because, with few exceptions, they are generally laden with martyrdom.

You are moving beautifully past the old, outworn ways of being.  Trust in yourself and in this process, and gift yourself with no longer using humanity’s definition of being in service.

Our lives are like great paintings or great pieces of music. If we focus on all the technical 'imperfections' we will miss the true beauty of the work. We won't see, or rather, FEEL the essence and spirit of the masterpiece. I no longer identify myself as a writer, artist, or musician. Rather I express my divinity, and my humanity through the media of art, music and writing. I began this blog because I wanted to give voice to my experiences and insights, and I wrote for myself primarily. Eight years later, I am still writing for myself, and I am discovering that my experiences are not personal but universal - galactic even. And now I am more sure than ever that I am a new consciousness teacher, as each of you are. The way we teach is by going through the very human experiences, and as we ascend and shed our old selves, with love, and as we embody spirit in this lifetime, which we are all doing, we become the standards for others of the new divine human.

  1. Wooohooooo! “The new consciousness is based in joy and self love. ”

Oh yes!!! “Whatever else you do is up to you.  If it brings you joy, do it.  But don’t do it because you “think” it’s being of service in some capacity.  That is just old energy thinking.”

Yes yes yes…..thank you dear sistar goddess! Beautiful post. AND interestingly fits with stuff I am working on with a class I am taking.

love love love to you and tons of joy!

  2. This is a good post. I agree with you. I like how you said about not looking to old models of spiritual ascension to try and understand what’s happening now. I spent time last weekend reading about the path of disciple and initiation trying to get a fix on what I experienced over the time the eclipse. I found it wasn’t all that helpful. As Elizabeth says the new path is based on joy and self love. A lot of the old paths seem to be based on self denial and suffering.
I do find some Buddhist teachings and Native American understandings very helpful though.

    • Yes, Suzanne some teachings from the past are very appropriate even now, and as we know even organized religion started off being something radically different than what we see today in its doctrines. Jesus’s (Yeshua) teachings were not what the church is portraying at all. But it seems, over time man has twisted those teachings into self serving and self sacrificing vehicles. Anything that teaches self love first is on the mark.

  3. I think being of service to the world – in whatever shape or form – is deeply ingrained in the human psyche. But I also think it doesn’t have to be connected to martyrdom at all. So if we become aware that being in our joy and doing what’s good for us is a form of service, if not the highest service to humanity and this planet, people can still keep their need to be of “service of others” (if they can’t let it go) but connect it to joy and self love instead of that old definition of sacrifice and suffering.

    • Kat, I agree with you that service to others doesn’t have to involve self sacrifice, and it is a beautiful thing. And I also see that those of us who are the front runners of ascension are in a somewhat different place. Because of the intensity and the difficult nature of this transformation, we find ourselves having to devote ourselves to our own self nurturance over many other things. But as we integrate all of ourselves, then we find that doing anything from a place of balance and wholeness is much more effective. And that of course includes any service to others that we enjoy.

      • Yes definitely. If we do something directly for others from a place of balance then everyone benefits from it.
What I meant was that we are already helping everyone by doing what we love – whether it is eating chocolate and watching TV or mountainbiking, or volunteering in an animal shelter – and just by being in joy and spreading joy energy we are helping heal the planet and raise the vibration 🙂
So lazying about and watching youtube (like I like to do sometimes) does help raise the energies on Earth as well helping an elderly person across the street. Both creates joy, whether someone else is directly involved or whether it’s just us who is joyous

        • Agreed, Kat…especially the part about eating chocolate and watching tv. (For me it’s Amazon or Netflix.❣️

        • I am giggling here….. Yes yes yes! You said it so well, Kat and Maria!

YouTube….I have been re-watching Downton Abbey at night (Amazon), after my honey is asleep. So much fun!

Whatever we feel called to do to nurture and love ourselves and be in joy….. Oh yes, baby!

Love you all! Dearest kindred spirits…..

          Wallowing in gratitude every day……

  4. *service to others

  5. PS. Thanks for this beautiful reminder and connection. Oh joy! Oh rapture!

Another PS. I just had this huge realization! AND thank you for facilitating/helping me.
I recently was thinking, yet again, that I needed to lose weight and got caught up in a program, yet again. OY! AND then came to my senses. It gave me something and part of what it gave me is that I CANNOT do a program. It gave me some awareness of amounts, so that was good. BUT the cool thing it gave me was how much I adore cooked veggies….(I was not fixing them very much as my honey only likes raw. WE do shared food prep.)
AND last night I fixed some fish and my honey fixed the salad…..and I pretty much hated the fish and so I did NOT eat it. AND thought, I can’t eat food unless I LOVE it.
AND then this morning you helped me remember that…..I must ONLY eat what brings me pure JOY! OH MY GOSH!
Thank you so much! What a resounding kerthunk of yes! AND then I got very clearly that the weight will go (as you have told me in a reading) when it is time…….AND that it does not matter what I eat…….oh my…..that it only matters that it brings me pure joy.
love you all, my kindreds, my soul sisters, my sistar goddesses

    • that is such a great realization Elizabeth. It’s so simple…just follow our bliss…. yet not always easy…but gets easier…thank you for sharing. I love it!!!! And Thank you Elizabeth for reblogging on elizabethsadhu….💕

  7. Martyrdom. Selfless service to others. Self-sacrifice. Yup….they’re dead, and we mustn’t allow them to resurrect! 😀 And yes, we must always come from a place of wholeness. We cannot give what we do not have. We need to make sure that we are filled up first, that we are full before we extend to another. Lovely reminder, as always! Thank you!! ❤ 😀 Om Shanti.
