Christianity’s 21st Century Crusade

There is a hierarchy in Christianity.  No matter how it’s been interpreted, it’s a pretty basic and uncompromising principle.

There’s god, then there’s his son, Jesus, and then there’s the sinners….everyone else. It’s based on a hierarchy and authoritarian rule.

A chain of command, from the head on down….God>Trump>White straight man>Everyone else>Woman.

That’s right, Trump.  Who better in the 21st Century to carry out the god-ordained mission to Make America Christian Again?

We can spend an inordinate amount of time speculating on the true meaning of the Bible, on what God and Jesus really meant for us to know, but we know that will probably get us nowhere.

That’s because there have been countless interpretations of the Good Book to suit whatever needs were relevant at the time of those interpretations.  Like God favors White, cisgender males.

But, at the end of the day, Right-wing Evangelicals have been feeling, along with others in this country, disenfranchised.  Fearful that they are becoming extinct. And, as we know, those who fear being left behind usually have an identity built on a house of cards.

They have been pushing politically, for quite some time, for this country to be a theocracy, more specifically White Christian. They saw Trump as their salvation.  Church sermons began singing praises to Donald Trump.  Regardless of the President’s corruption, hateful, violence-promoting rhetoric, non-stop lies, and shameless displays of bigotry.  In spite of the truth that he disdains democracy and the rule of law, that he care about only himself, and just his alarming incompetence…..they believed he was ordained and divinely appointed by God himself.

God forgives him, as He did King David, as long as he upholds their agenda. (Post continues after photo)6242771a-49e7-4772-a7b3-3b0fbc16114d

And that agenda involves among other things,  the oppression of women, gays, transsexuals, and anyone else they view as a threat.  The current administration brings them the hope of being able to openly practice bigotry and misogyny and homophobia in the name of religious protection.

From cake bakers denying same sex couples service, to doctors and hospitals refusing to treat a trans person, or to treat a woman who has had an abortion because in God’s eyes, they are unworthy. (Post continues after image)

A cake for every occasion

Clearly, the religious right just loves the idea of authority.  The ultimate authority being God himself. Then a President like Trump, then men, white men in particular, white straight men specifically.

As long as the authority lines up with their fear-based ideologies. That America should consist of straight, white males.  And of course white females. That those males have authority over those females.  Especially over their reproductive rights.

Their ‘sanctity of life’ rhetoric is another even more thinly veiled attempt to impose their power over women.

They would never admit it, but curtailing women’s ability to prevent pregnancy, by taking away their contraceptives, and then punishing them for wanting an abortion, is, they believe, a way to perpetuate the white ‘race.’

Does this so-called religion sound alarmingly aligned with neo-nazism?

This movement of religion to take over this country politically began in the 1980s when politicians saw the value in cultivating and harnessing the Christians and Evangelicals and their leaders as a large and solid base of devoted followers.

Moral Majority movements of the 1980s, brought by leaders such as Jerry Falwell, made segregation, abortion, and same-sex marriage trigger-point issues.  It was easy to garner support for the right type of conservative candidates running for public offices.

As long as those politicians aligned their talking points to that of the
Christian Family Values.

But the politicians themselves were not necessarily devout or had ever read the Bible. But, that was irrelevant to the religious right. Many of them weren’t familiar with scriptures either.  Their only agenda was, will those political leaders push policy that supports their world view?

Thus began a massive movement of white supremacy, white nationalism and hypocracy thinly veiled as Christian family values.

And this movement echoed early American history.  Under the guise of expansionism, and manifest destiny, genocide was committed right here in America in order to take land from the Indigenous people.. Demonizing them as heathens and crusading to convert people isn’t exactly what I would call liberal thinking.

That came later with the good intentions of the framers of the constitution. The founding fathers did their best to engineer an ideal of government that saw everyone as equal.  And that everyone was entitled to certain unalienable rights.  It was a vision designed to allow everyone to practice their own religion. But being careful to acknowledge the importance of separating religion and politics.

This was a new concept, considering that religion was in their blood. They came from generations and centuries of monarchies and deeply embedded religious beliefs.  And most of those beliefs were not about freedom for all.

They were more about the subjugation of the vulnerable, including Blacks, women and children.  Religion has for the most part been a way to control the masses. And a way for the masses to control anyone they feared as different from them.

I am being particularly hard on organized religion, especially Christianity because frankly it’s time to get it out of politics, and out of the consciousness of humanity.

It has reached a point of no return. Of doing more harm than good. It has served a purpose, and has done wonderful things for humanity, but it is time to heave it into the ash pile of history. Thank it for its service, but throw the Bible out and start fresh.

Either that or work on overhauling it to meet the twenty-first century.

But, of course that’s not going to happen. Humanity is not ready to let it go. Most people are not ready for such an awesome responsibility. To be responsible for their own reality, for their own creations.

To dare to see themselves as god.

To dare to love themselves more than any manufactured god. To dare to enjoy life, and their physical body as a sensual human angel, without guilt or shame.

To dare to fill themselves up first, to allow their own soul to love them in real, tangible ways, before sharing themselves with others.

It’s so much easier to install a President like Trump, who pretends to embrace their values, so they can continue their crusade.

  1. Oh dearest Maria! You got it! I have thought for a really long time that Jesus, the true essence of Jesus, would be having a big old heart attack if he were here seeing how humans evoke his name. Oy shit!

My current favorite hashtag pops into my head #fucknice. 😉😉🎉🎉♥️♥️😋😋

Time to be so real and not take the shit anymore.

Remember that movie “Network”? The only thing I remember is the guy yelling out of the window, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

I’m not mad at all but I’m not taking any of it anymore. 😋😋😋♥️♥️🎉🎉🎉🎉😉😉😉😘😘😘😘☀️☀️☀️☀️🌈🌈🌈🌈

    Shift shift shift…………

Love you tons and tons and I love you all tons and tons.

    1. Yes, siSTAR, the shift has definitely hit the fan. It’s reckoning time. People are beginning to see what’s really behind curtain number one, and some of them will have to face their own reflection.

Yes, dear Yeshua is not thrilled with what religion has done to his name and his message. He wishes he had an iPad back then so he could have published and copyrighted his truth.

Glad you enjoyed the Pence hybrid photo. I couldn’t resist. 💕

I started a search for ‘god’ a long time ago however [according to a management evaluation test I took years ago] I have a reasonably balanced brain left/right and therefore any faith I took on had to “fit” with facts. Eg – the Earth is not flat. So I started studying, became a minister of metaphysics and studied the bible inside out. I read, read, read; christian, jewish, buddhist “sacred” texts. I lit a fire and burnt all but 1 of my bibles and the Guru Gita which I keep purely as a study texts. It is covered in words such as -lies, stolen myths, garbage, WTF, he never existed, they pulled it out their ar.. etc. While I agree that dumpy in the tainted house will not bring an end to the theocracy of many, there is a shift and a big one. As always, when change is coming, those who have based their entire lives on thinking one way and often have to leave family, friends, their entire community behind, the fear will win over their insight that their religion has lied to them. One example is the Netherlands; only 14% still attend church and in Ireland from 89% in 1979 to 35% now. It was more catholic than the pope. I have not researched the US. Those numbers give me hope. Churches here in the Netherlands are closing at an alarming rate now being used as offices and party centres. Here in Europe the amount of people now investigating the spiritual side of themselves is increasing. That is also a good sign.

    1. Wow, that’s fascinating. Yes, it really is encouraging to see those numbers, and that churches are closing their doors. They have failed to stay relevant, and they are rife with the sexual energy virus. The imbalance is becoming more and more glaring. And, yes, you are right, more people are wanting to know what there is beyond this reality, and they can’t find that answer in a manufactured god. They are awakening more and more. The shift is upon us. Thank you for sharing your personal experiences with religion. BTW, I love your side notes ‘ lies, stolen myths, garbage, WTF, he never existed, they pulled it out their ar.. etc. ’. Hahaha.
